The Destination

Morzine Mountain Biking — Europe's Best MTB Destination

Morzine is located in the French Alps, in the heart of the Portes du Soleil — one of the largest linked mountain bike areas in the world. With over 650km of marked trails, 24 lifts, and 12 resorts connected across France and Switzerland, the scale of riding here is unlike anywhere else in Europe.

The Morzine bike park offers trails for every level. Beginners will find gentle green and blue runs accessed directly from the Pleney telecabine, which sits minutes from the town centre. More experienced riders can push into the Super Morzine sector, the Lindarets bowl, or cross into Les Gets and Châtel for a change of terrain.

Morzine is famous for its mix of riding styles. Flowy enduro trails through alpine forest, technical downhill runs, and purpose-built jump lines all exist within the same lift network. The Pleney bike park is ideal for progression; Super Morzine and the Lindarets bowl offer more adventurous terrain for riders looking to explore.

The town itself is a vibrant, walkable mountain village with restaurants, bars, bike shops, and a genuinely relaxed après-ride culture. It's also remarkably accessible — just 1 hour 15 minutes from Geneva airport, making it one of the easiest-to-reach high-quality MTB destinations in Europe.

The riding season runs from mid-June to mid-September, with peak conditions in July and August. Lift-accessed riding means you spend your time descending, not grinding uphill — ideal for making the most of a week's holiday.

Morzine suits all levels. Families with younger riders, intermediate riders looking to progress, and advanced riders chasing technical terrain all find exactly what they're looking for. The Portes du Soleil multi-pass gives access to all 24 lifts across the entire area — one pass, unlimited terrain.

Morzine MTB Trail Guide — What to Expect

Beginner → Advanced

Pleney Sector

The heart of Morzine's bike park. Blue and red flow trails, a dedicated skills area with drops and berms, and the famous Pleney flow trail. Best for beginners and anyone working on progression. Easy to lap all day from town.

Intermediate → Advanced

Super Morzine

Accessed by gondola, Super Morzine delivers longer, more natural enduro-style descents. Less crowded than Pleney, with more technical terrain and longer trail sections. Links into the Lindarets bowl.

All Levels

Les Gets

Linked via Chavannes lift — excellent flow trails and one of the best bike parks in the area. A brilliant day trip from Morzine with great infrastructure, well-maintained trails, and a lively resort vibe.

Intermediate → Expert

Lindarets / Avoriaz

Remote alpine enduro terrain with stunning scenery. The wild side of Portes du Soleil — natural trails, big descents, and access to the Swiss resorts. Best explored with a Morzine MTB guide who knows the lines.

All Levels

Châtel

Accessible via multi-pass, Châtel offers world-class trails across all difficulty levels, great bike park infrastructure, and a strong enduro scene. A perfect change of scenery mid-week.

Advanced · UCI World Cup

Champéry (Switzerland)
